Miri is a mum and grandmother who firmly believes that nutrition plays a vital role in raising healthy and happy kids. Miri is passionate about educating parents on how to navigate their way through the confusing maze of processed foods and get back to basic, whole food principles.

Our meals will be planned by a professional chef under Munch and Move Guidelines

We will set up with the help of our eager parent group an online community forum for parents to share recipes. We have some ideas around an

  • Annual eBook with recipes
  • Whole food cooking classes for parents
  • Cooking with kids incorporated into the daycare program
  • Cultivating a veggie patch/community garden

All meals including morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea are prepared and cooked daily at our premises.

The meals are freshly prepared, are healthy and nutritionally balanced, and seasonally and culturally appropriate.

Water is offered regularly and available at all times throughout the day. Information about the children’s food and drink intake is recorded on the Daily Record Sheet.

Please discuss any specific instructions or requests regarding your child’s dietary requirements, particularly allergies, with the Director or Licensee upon enrolment so that this need can be accommodated. Miris Crèche and Kindy has a ‘nut free’ environment so therefore please ensure that your children do not bring anything to the centre that contains traces of nuts.

Educators sit with the children during meals, talk with them and encourage conversation between children. Children are encouraged to taste or try different food but never coerced to eat. Toddlers and preschoolers are encouraged to serve and feed themselves. Chairs, tables and eating utensils are suitable for the developmental levels of the children.
